We had a wonderful Christmas with our family. They arrived Saturday night and that's when the fun began. We shopped until we dropped Sunday and Monday at every store you could think of. On Christmas we read the Bible story about Jesus' birth and then opened presents. I got to be Santa Clause and handed out all the gifts. I also made my Smith family traditional Sticky Buns for breakfast and boy were they amazing. I wish everyday was a Sticky Bun day. After that we spent the morning preparing all the Christmas dinner foods. Ben's dad showed me how to make a turkey and a ham. He also made some fantastic green beans and homemade stuffing. I made some really sweet, and I mean really sweet, sweet potatoes and homemade dinner rolls. Our Pastor's wife brought over some awesome foods to add to the mix and a church friend made wonderful dessert. Needless to say we had 8 people and enough food for 16. We all stuffed ourselves and it was a wonderful Christmas.
One of my other favorite things to do is shop the day after Christmas. We got up early and drove the hour and a half to St.Pete to meet up with some family friends. The girls went discount shopping and the guys went saltwater fishing. We ended up with bags of clothes and they ended up with 2 grouper. We ate them for dinner on Thursday night. Surprisingly enough it was pretty amazing!
They left early on Friday morning. We both wished that we had family closer but we enjoyed having them for as long as we did. Finally we were able to spend time when there wasn't too much going on.
